What we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do about it. Plain language, no boilerplate we don’t follow.
Sides & Benson Consultants Ltd. is a material handling consulting practice based in Ontario, Canada. We are responsible for the personal information described here. Reach us at ryan@sidesandbenson.ca.
What you give us. When you use the contact form we collect your name, company, email address, phone number if you provide one, the type of business you run, what you’re interested in, and whatever you write in the message field.
What arrives automatically. Our website host records standard technical information with every visit: IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, and timestamps. This is normal server logging and we do not use it to identify individuals.
We do not collect payment information through this website, and we do not ask for sensitive personal information.
To answer your enquiry, scope and deliver work you ask us to do, keep records for tax and legal obligations, and keep the site working and secure. That is the whole list. We do not build marketing profiles and we do not send unsolicited email.
Submitting the contact form is your consent for us to use that information to reply and to discuss possible work. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us, subject to any records we are legally required to keep.
This site uses one essential cookie-equivalent: a small entry in your browser’s local storage that remembers your cookie choice so we stop asking. Nothing else is stored unless you accept analytics.
If you accept analytics, we may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to count page views and referrers in aggregate. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or social media pixels. You can change your mind by clearing your browser storage for this site.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. It is shared only with the service providers that make the site and our business run — website hosting and form handling, email, and accounting — and only to the extent they need it. Some of those providers store data outside Canada, which means it may be subject to the laws of that country.
We will also disclose information where the law requires it.
Enquiries that do not turn into work are kept while the conversation is live and deleted when it is clearly over. Records tied to an engagement — contracts, invoices, correspondence — are kept for at least six years to meet Canadian tax and record-keeping requirements.
We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information: reputable hosting, encrypted connections, access limited to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise.
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or withdraw your consent. Email us and we will respond within 30 days. If we cannot act on a request — for example where a record must be retained by law — we will tell you why.
If you are not satisfied with how we handled your information, you can contact us first, and you can also file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on this page.
